WHY DO YOU NEED AIR INTAKE FILTERS ?
Contamination and fouling of the compressor is something all operators of gas turbines are subjected to. It just cannot be avoided. The purpose with our acivities is to minimize the problems contamination and fouling creates. Or in other hand our activity is how to help the customers to minimize their problems caused by the contaminants for many applications.
Contamination in the air and resulting fouling is the greatest danger a compressor is subjected to.
There are 2 ways to keep the compressor clean, air inlet filters which shall prevent contaminants from entering the compressor, and washing to clean dirt having passed through the filters and settled in the compressor as fouling or keep clean the hygiene rooms.
HOW DO YOU SELECT YOUR FILTERS ?
Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, commonly known as MERV Rating is a measurement scale designed in 1987 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to rate the effectiveness of air filters.
You will see the rating we use in this table relative both to MERV and ASHRAE. The G-filters are prefilters mainly to catch coarse particles, the F-filters are High Efficiency filters, the H-filters are HEPA-filters and the U-filters are ULPA-filters
Filter efficiency definition:
Particles Trapped / Particles Upstream = Filter Efficiency
(Particles Upstream - Particles Downstream) / Particles Upstream = Filter Efficiency
MIKROPOR has a considerably better efficiency than our competitors, and
it is only after the third load that our competitor comes on level with
MIKROPOR. And in that initial period, a lot of dirt will have entered
the compressor!
RECOMMENDED FILTER CONFIGURATION :
A prefilter will be placed in front of a high efficiency filter. A prefilter will normally be cheap while a high efficiency filter will be expensive. The job of the prefilter is to collect as much dust as possible before it reaches the high efficiency filter. In that way, a high efficiency filter will get a considerable longer service life.
