Why have a condensate return system ?
-
Condensate is usually hot. Feed water temperature increased, and less fuel needed to heat this water to produce steam.
-
Condensate is low in total dissolved solids, therefore feed water TDS is reduced and hence blowdown is reduced, thereby less heat is therefore lost in blowdown.
-
The greater the condensate, the less make-up water needed hence water saved. Thus, the pre-treatment size can be smaller and less regenerant chemicals are needed.
- All the above greatly improve the overall boiler efficiency.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROBLEMS COULD BE HAPPEN BY USING CONDENSATE RETURN ?
- Condensate return are obviously contains gases such as O2, CO2, etc.
- Pipe works - corrosion
- Equipment - corrosion
- Lost of condensate/energy
- Corrosion products (eg Fe++ ) are returned to the boiler and may creates secondary corrosion.
HOW TO MANAGE THE MAIN PROBLEMS TO BE NOT RISKS ANYMORE ?
Try to apply condensate treatment programme by using either does Neutralizing or Filming method, in order to maintain condensate return using safely and improving the boiler efficiecy;
